3 Foods That Can Cause Kidney Stones When Consumed On A Regular Basis

Kidney stones are a common medical condition that affect a large number of people all over the world. Kidney stones are formed when the mineral substances that are found in the kidneys crystallize and form hard particles as a result of an inadequate amount of fluids that are required to maintain their regulation and equilibrium. Some of the symptoms of kidney stones include frequent nausea and vomiting, discomfort in the back or sides, a blood spot in the urine, and back pain or side pain.

The daily consumption of certain foods and beverages, such as processed meats, sugary drinks, and alcohol, can cause kidney stones. This is due to the fact that these foods and beverages contain certain chemicals, such as phosphorus and some sodium compounds, that can induce the precipitation of minerals in the kidneys and make them crystalize as solid particles. Kidney stones can cause severe pain when urinating or peeing, and they can also be a source of embarrassment.

When ingested on a consistent basis, the following three substances have been shown to increase the risk of developing kidney stones.

1. Processed meats are among the foods that you should try to avoid eating on a regular basis, as recommended by Healthline. This is due to the fact that processed meats are seasoned with salt, which, when consumed on a regular basis, has the potential to become lodged in the kidneys and crystallize into stones in the absence of sufficient fluids needed to dilute or reduce the concentration of the salt crystals. Certain processed meats contain phosphorus, which, when consumed in high quantities, can lead to the production of stone particles in the kidneys by causing the precipitation of minerals there. Phosphorus is found in some processed meats.

2. Regular and excessive intake of alcohol can impair the body’s capacity to create a variety of molecules that keep the minerals in the kidney fluids in proper balance, which in turn can raise the risk of kidney stones developing. It also leads the body to create more uric acid in order to make salt compounds, which, when there is not enough kidney fluid, can become deposited in the kidney as stone particles. When this happens, the kidneys can become damaged. In order to avoid developing this health problem, it is recommended that you cut down on the amount of alcohol you consume.

3. Steer clear of drinking sugary beverages on a consistent basis because diabetes can develop when there is an excess of sugar in the blood and not enough insulin in the body. An excessive amount of sugar in the blood can make its way into the kidneys, where it can combine with other minerals to produce stone crystals that are harmful to the kidneys. If you want to avoid developing kidney stones in your body, you should always consume sugar in moderation and limit your intake of sugary drinks.

Note: It is recommended that you consume a significant amount of water on a daily basis in order to maintain proper hydration. This will allow your kidneys to have sufficient fluid to adequately dilute the minerals, thereby preventing the minerals from precipitating out of the fluid solution in the form of stone crystals.
